I taught a photo class at a Family History Conference a few years ago about how to take better family photographs on any camera (including cell phones!) I had 10 tips that are pretty easy to implement - so I'll share those again here. Heres Tip #1:
FILL THE FRAME!
Here's a super basic example of what that means. A few years ago, my niece got married in the Oakland LDS Temple. Most of our extended family gathered for the occasion, so while we waited for them to do their bridal shots post ceremony, I started taking family photos of relatives not in the bridal party. Here is an example of some photos I took of my niece and nephew... notice the stark difference in quality of when I was trying to get a full body shot of the two of them, verses the close up. Which do you prefer? Yeah, me too!


Don't be afraid to zoom in and get close! 99% of the time it looks so much better!
